I've found the netting to be the most effective from among the suggestions offered here(even if the netting is too small for the entire tree, you can save a good portion or buy more than one). If you do try the owl statue, make sure you move the statue around quite frequently or the birds will get wise. In addition to the hanging CDs, pie pans also distress birds. Also try putting up a bird feeder or two, located a good distance from the fig tree. Fill it with sunflower seed, which birds prefer far more than regular wild-seed. By having some sort of deterrent(s) plus bird feeders - the birds may just gravitate exclusively to the bird feeders. Good luck.

Your efforts will be far more than the result.

I suggest you pick figs daily, especially early in the morning before the birds get active.

For us, it's mockingbirds which resist most "annoying" techniques we can think of. So we share, simple as that. And we encourage the dogs to chase them off.

You've heard lots of ideas how to get rid of bird. But if you have trees/shrubs/plants that birds like, it's an uphill battle. Find a way to compromise and beat them to the fruit...

dont worry so much ,the birds dont eat or damage the tree ,they are only interested in the figs ,

dont you like birds???.

plant enough trees so that everybody can have figs

of hang strips of tin foil and colored paper in the tree

Fig trees are the easiest to make more of ,choose a big branch and at the bottom of the branch remove a strip of bark about a foot wide ,wrap a fertilizer bag or a jute sack

filled with compost around the bare wood, and tie it with string ,

water this regularly and roots will form in the wrapping ,

After six months saw of the branch below the new roots and plant

voila an instant fig tree

There are a few things you can do...some rubber snakes tied in the tree might help, along with the idea above of tying old cd's in the tree (they reflect light and scare off birds). I think the rubber snakes work the best, though.

Check with a garden center near you to see if they sell netting that you can toss over the tree that will allow the sun through, but prevent the birds from getting to the fruit.

status, sitting or laying interior the air of secrecy of timber will enable the timber to bare to us their potential, resilience, endurance and deliberatness. I relatively have witnessed many a tree to thoroughly defeat a bulldozer and maximum earth shifting machines, their roots enhance for many extra desirable than maximum persons think of, giving them the potential of the Earth, yet in a solid wind they are in a position to bend to accomodate the changing forces that still attempt to circulate them. they have an inclination to stay longer than us ALL in terms of obdurate life and can tutor us the endurance of surviving against repeated onslaughts. even nonetheless timber is softer than rock, a tree can, over the years, relatively chop up even the biggest of boulders with its roots. timber have all this and lots extra to tutor us if we'd basically make the hassle to hearken to, watch, and study from them. Get one of those plastic owls that you set somewhere in your yard to scare them off.
