Just wondering if I can "train" pickling cucumbers to climb on a trellis.

I did it one time when I was a teenager but forgot how to do it.

Thank you.

Yes a solid sturdy trellis. Cucs get heavy the bigger they get and can break off the plant or break the vine off with the cuc attached.

Just a little planning ahead and a lot of space for the vines to grow on a trellis secured and sturdy . If I t gets to large for the trellis then grow the vines on the ground to maintain the plant.

cukes have tendrils which will wrap themselves around anything and climb right up. you may need to help it at first by wrapping the tendrils around whatever you want them to climb on, but they will climb.

Definitely, and they'll do better than plants that sprawl on the ground. Smaller strings and wires are better for the tendrils, so avoid anything over 1/4" or so in diameter. Think fencing, twine, wire, etc., not bamboo, lumber or piping.
