Yes, you can use a product that contains 2,4D as the first poster stated however, if your turf is of the warm season variety, it is not advisable as it may burn the turf somewhat. If you have a cool season grass, it is ok to use 2,4D. One of the best over the counter "selective" herbicides on the market today (just my preference) is Ortho's "Weed B Gone". Which contains 8% triclopyr (2,4D). You can purchase this product at any garden center locale such as in Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowes. If by chance you know that your turf is of the warm season variety, Ortho makes a special Weed B Gone "for southern lawns". The label will have this "for southern lawns" visible on the front label. Make sure to mix according to the directions and nothing more. Trying to make the mix stronger than what is allowed thinking that it will do a better job, is a violation of the EPA regulations and does your turf or the environment any good.. (creeping charlie is easily controlled with Weed G Gone). If your newly seeded grass is still young, you should wait until it gets established before applying an herbicide as this will also cause browning..Below is a link with a pic of this product. It also comes in a "ready" to use bottle as well as a concentrate. Hope this answers your question..

Creeping Charlie

Creeping Charlie is a perennial, evergreen creeper that loves moist, shady areas. Used by the ancient Saxons for brewing beer, it was brought to this country from Europe for medicinal purposes. It's now found all across the country, except in the Rocky Mountain states. It spreads by rhizomes and seeds, and forms thick mats in the lawn. You can control it in the lawn with Ortho® Weed B Gon MAX® Weed Killer for Lawns.

Prevention and Maintenance

Treat Creeping Charlie in your Lawn

You can control Creeping Charlie with Ortho® Weed-B-Gon MAX® Weed Killer for Lawns between fertilizer applications. This can control the weeds while it gives your grass the nutrients it needs to grow thick healthy roots that will choke out new weeds.

Treat Creeping Charlie in Other Areas

You might find patches of Creeping Charlie under trees, in garden plots, and other parts of your yard. In these spots, you can use Ortho® Weed-B-Gon MAX® Weed Killer for Lawns. It's available as a Concentrate for use in a tank sprayer, or Ready-Spray®, which attaches to the end of your hose.

Grass won't choke out bindweed, the different will happen, and the only thank you to rid your backyard of such inoccuos weed is to dig it out, even then those roots commute far and deep. What I do to regulate those is that I walk around the backyard with a bottle of "around-up" get as on the fringe of the roots as I in all probability can and spray, which rather does help to regulate them, despite if it does leave some little bare patches interior the backyard.

Use a broadleaf postemergent herbicide. I use 2 4 D but it can travel and kill other plants. It has never hurt anything else of mine but I heard that it could.
