There are lots of hardy winter brassicas, such as brussels sprouts, curly kale, and Cavolo Nero (black Russian cabbage.). Purple sprouting broccoli will come through the winter and provide shoots in Spring. Leeks can be harvested as you need them, choose 2 varieties, one early, one later, for succession. A lot of veg whuch were harvested earlier can be stored for winter use, eg onions, squash, potatoes. If you live near the coast, the frosts will be likely to be less frequent than if you lived further inland.

Droughts at the instant are not something new right here. Which seems outstanding seeing as all it ever seems to do is rain. apart from inhabitants (in South East England) the undertaking is with the wastage. 5 gallons / flush Sir Roy ???? Nowhere close to that. it fairly is been 2 gallons / flush for years yet even that has considering that been decreased with cutting-area loos. And on an analogous time as Rolf is real that the water isn’t ‘lost’, it remains no longer ‘in’ the equipment. right here in Thames Water area they lose approximately seven hundred megalitres in line with DAY !!! from leaking pipes. seven hundred million litres an afternoon divided, for arguments sake, via a uk inhabitants of 70 million is 10 litres an afternoon for each guy woman and infant interior the united kingdom. And that’s only Thames Water ! I accept as true with Maxi that how the hell replaced into it allowed for distant places companies to possess our water. France has a huge stake in OUR water ! probable no longer in my lifetime yet interior the destiny human beings would be combating over water like they now do over oil. And it’s no longer in basic terms leaks yet inhabitants too. plenty extra water mandatory interior the South East of england than the North West of Scotland. They’ve executed them for oil and gas so why no longer placed funds right into a pipe from Scotland to England for water and enable the Scots make a pair of greenbacks for the hassle. yet look on the staggering area in case you reside in London and particularly probable the knock on result it had for something of the united kingdom ;-) only think of how undesirable issues could be now if it wasn’t for the genius and foresight of Joseph Bazalgette ;-)

If you plant potatoes in the spring you can leave them in the ground covered with 6 inches of straw and harvest them all winter. Bok Choy, Broccoli, kale, spinach, leeks, peas, collard greens, radishes, and turnips can all be put in as a fall crop.
