Question:
why is my plant dying?

I've had the plant for almost 3 years. It’s the large green ones that you get at funerals. I've never had problems with it before, but it was starting to grow too large for its container. It was so bad that the root were starting to come up to the surface of the soil. I bought a larger pot and some more soil and repotted it, but ever since then it has started to wither and the leaves were falling off. Healthy green leaves just dropping off cannot be normal. I decided to change the soil because another plant of mine in the same soil was dying as well. But when I stuck my hands into the earth I retrieved only a small handful of pathetic, scrawny roots. The rest were just laying there in perfect color and everything. Please if someone can help me it would mean so much to me. I wouldn't care so much if this was just some silly house plant, but it has a lot of sentimental value. I've stored too many emotions in this plant for it to die.

1st, Please post a picture and/or identify the plant (bring it to a nursery).

2nd, Try to take cuttings and root it. If the mother plant dies, you'll have babies.

Set the plant outside on sunny days, but make sure to give it only filtered sunlight.Bring it back indoors at night to avoid chilling..Also feed it a very week solution of miracle grow for two or three days.

Try putting earthworms in the soil(I know it'll be kind of gross, but it'll help), or ladybugs...Plants need things in the soil that only animals can give for some reason.

your plant is dying because it lacks the proper nutrients to survive. try a different spot in the house and make sure you water it as needed.
