I have a large magnolia tree in my front yard and looks like its gradually dying?

It's been flowering beautifully up untill 3 years ago, when suddenely some of its branches became dry.
Do magnolia trees grow old and die?

It's definitely dying due to the drought.

It's the drought, I had a beautiful 10 year old tree and each year of the drought it got more limb die back and it died.



Give it a dose of Seasol (tonic) don't fertilize may kill it and water deeply at least each week and see if it revives in spring. Magnolia's usually have a long life and Don Burke had a massive deciduous one on his show some years ago in NZ which would have been at least 12 m tall. Obviously they love a moist cool climate.

First my favorite tree second, watch the response. I cannot help myself...I am a Mimosa addict. I love the leaf shape. It is a fast grower. The Flowers are spectacular! But I live in Massachusetts where the Mimosa is not invasive. Texas, well, this is where my thumbs down will come! It is a beautiful, fast growing, storm bending, gorgeous tree! That either not die, or leave young ones behind to assure its existence. I vote for Mimosa thumbs down, but a real beauty!

I sprayed a tea oil all over my magnolia 3 years ago and it came back to life. The symptoms before I sprayed were branch and foliage death and small drips coming down. Hope this helps.

If it is a beautiful specimen, I would call an Arborist to come and look at it. They would be able to tell you if it can be saved and how to save it. If it needs pruning, they would be able to prune it properly and take the dead and diseased branches out.
