Try your nearest large grocery. The ones from there should grow. It's hard to NOT grow J-chokes once you start...they tend to hang on if you don't get every bit out of the holes. Try making potato chips out of them. Sweet and yummy, but they'll tend to give you gas.

Not sure what area you're from but in Rural Ontario they grow along the roadsides. Some people refer to them as wild sunflowers. You might try checking with a store or company that sell wildflower seeds.

Grocery stores now market them under the name Sun Chokes, and they are usually in the produce section. Talk to the produce manager. They may be able to order them for you. I love them pickled. Farmers markets sometimes have them.
