im 18 next month. Around the age of 7 or 8 I ate a lemon and waited about a week maybe a little less for the seed to dry so I can plant it in soil. What I did was clean out and ritz mini container put soil and put the sed in. After the first year it was getting big and we planted it outside. Now almost 10 years later the tree is bigger than me about 8ft tall and there has never been a blossom on it. All there is is about 2 inch long thorns.

How come my lemon tree is taking so long to produce any lemons????

Citrus is dicey when you plant from seed. Sometimes you get a fruit producing tree, sometimes you get a sterile tree... no flowers, no fruit - nothing but foliage (and of course, the thorns).

I'm in the same boat. My daughter planted orange seeds when she was 5. She's now 12, and we have two beautiful, non-flowering, orange tree house plants. Normally, they would start flowering when they're just a few years old.

You might want to go to a local tree nursery or call one and see about having someone professional moving it to your back yard for you. If not, you could put a fence around it with a barbed wire top and a sign saying, lemons - $1 each. Then if they ask at least you'll get paid! Good luck!

thorns on grapefruit and lemon trees are common what area do you live in that is key to producing fruit. we are assuming you are not exceeding zone 8 but based on type of weather ,location in the yard, soil conditions, and fertilization program you are using all effect the proper growth of the tree.

fruit trees put more energy into their fruit if they think they're in danger. I have seen many lemon trees and the ones that bare the best fruit have had a few rusty nails jammed in the trunk. you might not feel like going so far but basically don't nurture it so much, just let it grow

there are floweres right?

if there aren't any then the tree will never produce any lemons.

if there are then the flowe needs pollination, usually done by the bees or wind. u can do it yourself, though that would be nearly impossible to do.

you planted a seed from a graft and the tree took on the characteristics of the root stock.
