A customer at the store told me that lemon trees need both a male and female plant to produce fruit. Is this true? What other common fruit trees need opposite gender pollination to produce fruit.
Thanks

No you don't need opposite gender for Citrus. You do for some nut trees, and you do for Kiwi fruit. What that customer may have been told, some varities do better with another variety close by.I grow a fruit called a Fejoa, and I have two varities close together.I get better and bigger fruit.

Just for the info--you do need to have both genders for dwarf peach trees. One seems to produce more than the other and the fruit is better on that one also. I guess that's the female.

you're saying you reside in Alaska. i don't be responsive to if that's authentic or no longer, yet my aunt used to let us know that tomatoes do no longer placed on fruit till the evening temps are interior the 70s. we are living in Alabama. Do human beings improve tomatoes in Alaska? have they have been given the comparable problem you're having? Is your tomato in a greenhouse? if so, you'll want handy pollinate it. you need to use an artist's brush, or try shaking the tree very gently to scatter the pollen. To pollinate with a broom, gently touch each and each bloom middle with the comb, after doing each and each bloom, carry the comb over the plant and shake off any pollen left on it. solid luck.
