We have two pear trees in our yard with white blossoms, but I recently discovered an unknown tree on the edge of our yard. It had pink flowers, so at first I thought it was a cherry or apple tree. Now when I look at it, there are a few fruits growing, they look just like the pears on our other trees (green and hourglass shape). Is there a variety that has pink blossoms?

Hey Wendy,

Yes, there are, pear blossoms are usually white, and rarely tinted pink, 2–4 cm diameter, and have five petals. There are about 30 primary species, major subspecies, and naturally occurring interspecific hybrids of pears.

FYI:

Celebrate spring as thousands of acres of pink and white pear blossoms carpet the Hood River Valley. Throughout the area, myriad activities are scheduled from orchard and winery tours tolocal art and craft shows. I every time spend my half an hour to read this blog's posts daily along with a mug of coffee.

Perhaps, but I'm not 100% on it
