ok so i live in indiana and it's been in the 50s, 60s, and 70s for the past few weeks and later this week around thursday the highs are only going to be in the low 40s and the lows will be in the upper 20s...some flowers and things are starting to bloom/grow already and i was wondering if this short cold spell will be bad for them and make them not grow as well

They'll be just fine. Here in Buffalo, NY my tulips, daffodils, crocuses, etc. all started to grow a few inches out of the soil and we get more SNOW. It's happened other years and my plants were just fine. So don't worry.

Most plants will not like freezing temperatures. There are some exceptions but since you did not mention them my responce is as follows. Cover them with compost, leaves, a sheet, or something that will hold the ground temperature in and not let the cold get in.

Many flowers will not be damaged by high 20 degree weather but to be safe, cover them.

Well im sure your plants will be fine. If you want you can try to replant them into a pot and wait for the weather to pass then replant them outside or you can try to use heat lamps to keep them warm. Or you can let nature take its course and see what happens which i think they will bloom when it really is time.

It would be a good idea to cover them with some fabric before the temp goes below 40. And remove the covers as soon as it warms up again.

If they survived this past winter they should be alright.
